I figured the day before Xmas was a good time to get some pics. I will be considerably fattier by the 27th, if the next couple of days go to plan! :)
I don't see much difference between these pics and the set from last month - it looks like maybe I've put on a small amount of muscle in some places, but gained a small amount of fat all over too, so overall I look much the same or a tiny bit worse. That said, I didn't see much difference between the August pics and the November pics until I just looked at them again now, and there's actually a world of difference, so maybe these show more than I'm currently seeing too. *shrug*
Front and back. Comme ci, comme ça.

Posture is one thing that does seem to have improved - even in the 'slouching' pic. The 'standing up straight' pic had some coaching from

(Look at it, I'm straight!! Um, you know. Geometrically speaking.)
Back tensed. Quite liking these.

Bonus pic of front, with attempt to flex muscles. May need more chest muscles before the difference between 'flexed' and 'relaxed' is particularly apparent. :)

I've been doing less cardio recently, and less in the way of isolated lifting too - I've been concentrating more on heavy compound lifts (squats, bench press, and just started on deadlifts), as well as continuing to work hard on pull-ups. Partly because it's good to change routine from time to time, and partly due to advice I've read or been given over the last month or so - in particular, this article, which summarised most of the other stuff I'd been reading/hearing: Everything You Know About Fitness Is A Lie
This seems to be working well for me. I'm feeling really good in day to day life at the minute - feeling strong, healthy, and well grounded and centred in my body. Which is nice.
Tomorrow I'm off to eat Xmas dinner with my family, and then Boxing Day dinner with

Oh, and have a good New Year too. This New Year's Eve, in the daytime, I've organised a fitness-related party! Not sure if I'll have time to post between that and going out clubbing that night, but if not then I'll try to write it up early in January. We're going to try to complete as many Fitocracy quests as possible in one day... it should be quite silly. :-p

Date: 2011-12-25 11:43 pm (UTC)i've realised that i just hate cardio. it's so dull. i can just about cope with the minute stints in our circuits class, and i like dancing, and that's it.

are you doing any shoulder work?
I do standing shoulder press with dumbbells fairly often, if I can't get to whatever piece of large kit I want next (usually the Smith machine for squats).
may find it balances out the back and chest stuff.
Balances how? Visually, or something else?
