The TV Licensing And Unwarranted Postal Harassment Company has done something right. They sent me a letter which contained (a) a postage-paid return envelope, and (b) a form with a space at the bottom for me to fill in the following tie-breaker: "I do not need a TV license because ...". They didn't say how many words I was limited to ;) so I kept it simple: "I do not watch TV".

Hopefully what I win is for them to piss off and leave me alone, w00t.

Victory is yours.... :)

How did you get that form? Did it randomly appear because you didn't reply to their previous harassments?

Yeah, I guess so. I did write 'return to sender - no TV here - please cease harassment' on a few of their envelopes and put them back in post boxes, but I doubt they actually got sent back to them.

On further thought, I've recalled some of the phrasing in the letter and I believe it was hand-delivered by an enforcement officer - the same guy who probably would have asked to see my TV if I'd been home when he called.

That still doesn't explain why it's the first time they've given me any easy route to tell them the simple truth though... they could have posted me that form and envelope six months ago and saved themselves a lot of money on postage and hiring of enforcement goons. *shrug*

I got one of them earlier this month — obviously hand-delivered as the envelope was not sealed, although had they tried my doorbell, they would have found me to be in.

That was the first I’d heard of in about a year, since I’d filled in and returned a similar letter they’d hand-delivered to me then.

Lmao...< sings > " You're gonna get a visit "
They really don't berleive people don't watch telly these days, and if they have any presumtion your Pooter can display tv, they take it away for testing...can't find the article, but there was something about them leviying a new tv license tax on new bought computers as a lot of them come with TV cards now....

Yeah, I read about that. They'll be needing a warrant before they so much as touch my PC... and possibly an armed guard too ;)
